(Los Angeles, CA – June 9, 2009) – American Idol season 8 runner-up Adam Lambert has been signed to 19 Recordings and licensed to RCA Records. He is preparing to start work on his debut album which is due for release in fall 2009.

“To find a talent as exceptional as Adam Lambert is a rare and special event,” says Simon Fuller, Creator and Executive Producer of American Idol and Founder & CEO of 19 Entertainment. “I am thrilled that American Idol was the platform for the world to discover this brilliant young man. He is unique and unforgettable and a certain star of tomorrow.”

“There are no longer any rules in terms of where the world’s next superstars may come from,” says Barry Weiss, Chairman & CEO RCA/JIVE Label Group. “We are thrilled to be getting involved with Adam Lambert as we all at RCA Records believe he is one of those rare, future global stars”.

“I’m thrilled that we’ve come to a creative and collaborative partnership and look forward to developing a really exciting album,” says Lambert. “We are 100% on the same page and are all anxiously awaiting the start of the recordings. It’s going to be ridiculous! Get Ready!!!”

Adam Lambert is very excited about his debut album scheduled for release in the fall. “Ridiculous”? Sounds perfect!

Here’s what Adam discussed with Slezak during his Idolatry interview. Adam Lambert on Idolatry – Interview with Michael Slezak

“With Idol we have the opportunity to do whatever we want and to show a range and so I don’t see what the problem is with doing an album that has a variety to it. I think it’s more interesting, you have more for everybody when you do an album like that. I think you have the opportunity to release different singles for different markets. I have definitely thought about it and I don’t think there’s really any harm in creating a variety. It’s entertainment, that’s the point of the album, to entertain people; either to take them to an emotional place, to get them to dance, to get them to feel sexy and if those songs are different genres, then I’m the singer, so that’s the common thread.”

About working with 19 Recordings, Adam said, “I’m really positive about it. I’ve had my preliminary meeting with them and the creative talk is really going and we’re talking with different producers we want to work with and the type of album I want to make. We want to do a kind of Rock Pop Electronic fusion thing with ups and downs, the emotional ballad, the fun track, the this track, the that track, and we want it to have an international appeal, I mean for everybody. The show Idol has gone further than North America a this point so I think for all the audiences out there, even the ones who didn’t get to vote, I should make something that everybody can appreciate. And they’re on board, they are really supportive. It’s good to have people that invested in you especially in the current musical climate.”
